In his most recent report on Chile, published on April 10, the Spanish critic Luis Gutiérrez, responsible for tasting Chilean wines for the specialized wine medium Robert Parker Wine Advocate, awarded Don Melchor 2020 with 94 points and highlighted this Cabernet Sauvignon, an icon of Puente Alto as “a very classic wine, produced mostly with free-standing vines with a masal selection that delivers the purest expression of the grapes on the rocky soils of Maipo in Puente Alto.”
In his tasting note, Gutierrez describes it as a “refined and elegant wine, without heat, balanced and with developed aromas, beginning with tertiary notes of brick, cedar and tobacco. The tannins are very polished and elegant, with intense and ripe flavors on the finish”.
After tasting almost 1,000 wines between last year and during his visit to Chile at the end of February of this year, the critic once again praised the quality and consistency achieved by Chilean wines, especially vintages between 2019 and 2022, among which Don Melchor 2020 is located.
