Amelia seeks to express the unique character of the Limarí Valley in producing the best high-end Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in Chile.
Time seems to stand still before the enormity of the Limari Valley and its impressive landscape on the horizon. The Quebrada Seca Vineyard grows on one of the valley’s rolling hills, where the cool mornings and clay soils give rise to distinctive wines with attractive mineral character.
The cool coastal breezes blow directly towards the valley and moderate the temperatures, which, combined with the cloudy mornings, allows for a long, slow maturation of the fruit, in order to produce fresher wines.
“Once we discovered the potential of Limarí, we realized that there is no better terroir in Chile for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. That freshness and minerality that we can only find here, and that is precisely what we are trying to delivery in these wines: identity of terroir.”
“Right up there with the best Chardonnays Chile, and South America, has ever produced, this stunning wine comes from five specific blocks within the Quebrada Seca in Limarí. Tangy, chiseled and refined, with very stylish oak, it’s the kind of thing that could embarrass a range of Puligny-Montrachet Premiers Crus in a blind tasting. Simply stunning. 2020-28.”
“Mineral and really fine toast notes chime in with star fruit, lemon rind and pineapple. There is a refined, smoky and mineral edge to the yellow and green fruit on the palate with a taut texture. Medium-to-full-bodied, yet transparent and svelte, with a mineral finish.”
“I was blown away by th e2020 Amelia Chardonnay… The wine is intense, mineral, balsamic and medicinal… feel ethereal and full of light, with a vibrant and electric palate. It’s subtle but with penetrating flavours, elegant and persistent with a serious profile and superb balance that should ensure its longevity.”
“A deep but still ethereal pinot with tangy dark raspberries, mossy strawberries, sous-bois, spices and some rose petals on the nose. This medium-to-full-bodied pinot is very well-structured, framed by tight and textured tannins and showing transparent, mineral tension in the middle. Quite long and brand, yet subtle and nimble.”
“The super elegant, pale and delicate Amelia Pinot Noir is really captivating, floral, perfumed, nuanced and harmonious. It has a terrific balance and texture and great purity of flavours. It follows the style of the already-amazing 2018.”
Concha y Toro launched the Amelia brand in 1993. This distinctive and elegant Chardonnay expresses the unique character of the Quebrada Seca vineyard. Amelia was the first Ultra Premium Chardonnay from Chile.
Pairs wonderfully with sushi, sesame seared tuna, and pasta with slightly creamy sauces.
Light ruby in colour, it is a complex and multi-layered wine, in which notes of red cherries and a hint of black tea leaves intertwine. Refreshing, with an excellent combination of structure and minerality, leaving a long and fresh finish.
An excellent option to accompany gently grilled tuna, salmon with fresh herbs, pork fillet with cherry and pomegranate sauce, as well as cheeses such as mature goats, cheddar or brie.
